Require customers to confirm their registration (GDPR compliance)

Understanding GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy in the European Union and the European Economic Area. It also addresses the transfer of personal data outside these areas. If you operate within these regions, GDPR mandates that you obtain explicit consent from customers before sending them any form of electronic communication, including back in stock notification emails.

With Stoq, ensuring GDPR compliance is straightforward:

When the GDPR compliance feature is activated, customers will first receive an email with a confirmation link after registering for a product alert.
For the registration to be complete, customers need to click on this link. Only after this confirmation will they be notified when the product is back in stock. Without this confirmation, no notifications will be dispatched.

How to enable GDPR compliance in Stoq

Head to 'Back in stock alerts' from the left menu bar on the App.
Under 'Signup widget', click 'Customize form'.

Choose the 'Signup form' tab and click on 'GDPR Compliance'.

Enable the checkbox 'Require customers to confirm their alert registration.

You can change the confirmation email subject, body and success message according to your preference.
Click 'Save changes' in the top right corner.
If you've enabled this feature, you can see if a customer has confirmed their registration in the 'GDPR' column in 'Reports'
